يحل في الخامس والعشرين من نوفمبر من كل عام، اليوم الدولي للقضاء على العنف ضد المرأة، ويرجع السبب فى اختيار هذا اليوم تحديدًا إلى ذكرى مقتل الأخوات ميرابال؛ الناشطات السياسيات والنسويات في جمهورية الدومينيكان، عام 1960. وهذا اليوم هو بداية لحملة ال “16 يوم” لمناهضة العنف ضد المرأة؛ وهي حملة عالمية أطلقتها منظمة الأمم المتحدة عام 1991، بهدف مناهضة جميع أشكال العنف والتمييز ضد النساء في جميع أنحاء العالم، ولقد اختارت الهيئة العامة للأمم المتحدة موضوع هذا العام تحت شعار ❞ لوّن العالم برتقاليًا: فلننهِ العنف ضد المرأة الآن!ا❝، وقالت في سبب اختيارها للون البرتقالي :” البرتقالي هو لوننا لتمثيل مستقبل أكثر إشراقًا وخالٍ من العنف ضد النساء والفتيات. فكونوا جزءًا من الحركة البرتقالية!”.
وإذا كانت النساء في كل أنحاء العالم يتعرضن لصور شتى من العنف فقط لكونهن نساء، فإن تقاطعية الجندر مع ممارسة أنواع بعينها من المهن يفرض على النساء اللاتي يمتهنن هذه المهن عنفًا مضاعفًا، وبطبيعة الحال فالعمل في مهنتي الصحافة والإعلام أحد أبرز هذه الأشكال؛ حيث تعمل الصحفيات المصريات في بيئات عمل غير آمنة، سواء داخل مؤسسات صحفية تنتهك حقوقهن كعاملات وتساهم في إعادة إنتاج علاقات القوى الظالمة للنساء، أو حتى خارج هذه المؤسسات أثناء قيامهن بالمهام التي يفرضها عليهن طبيعة عملهن الصحفي، كما دفعت صحفيات مصريات ثمنًا أكثر فداحة مثل الصحفية ميادة أشرف التي دفعت حياتها أثناء ممارستها لمهام عملها.
وفي هذا اليوم، فإن المرصد المصري للصحافة والإعلام؛
• يحيي كل النساء العاملات في مهنتي الصحافة والإعلام، ويدين بأشد العبارات، أي شكل من أشكال العنف الذي قد يطالهن أثناء عملهن الصحفي والإعلامي
• ويدعو كافة السلطات المعنية، إلى القيام بدورها في توفير الحماية لكل العاملين والعاملات في مهنتي الصحافة والإعلام.
• كما يوصي المؤسسات الصحفية والإعلامية باتباع سياسة تمكين المرأة في الوصول إلى المناصب القيادية.
• ويوصي بإطلاق العنان لطاقات الصحفيات المصريات في الإبداع المهني دون أي قيود أو تمييز على أساس النوع الاجتماعي.
• كما يوصي المجلس الأعلى للإعلام بتبني مدونة سلوك تحد من ظاهر العنف ضد النساء ووضع عقوبات مغلظة على المؤسسات الإعلامية التي تنتهك حقوق النساء بشكل خاص.
• كما يحث نقابة الصحفيين على بذل مزيد من الجهد للتعامل مع المخاطر والتحديات التي تواجه النساء.
• وأخيرًا؛ يوجه المرصد المصري للصحافة والإعلام سؤاله لنقابة الصحفيين، متسائلًا عن مصير لجنة حماية المرأة ورصد ومتابعة أوضاعها في أماكن العمل الصحفي؟، التي أعلنت النقابة عن نيتها في إنشائها منذ عدة أشهر!، ويوضح المرصد أن أي تأخير في إنشاء هذه اللجنة تقع مسئوليته على نقابة الصحفيين، وهو إسهام غير مباشر في زيادة العنف الموجه ضد المرأة.

International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women: Where is the Women’s Committee!
The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women falls on the 25th of November of every year, the reason for choosing this day is due to the memory of the murder of the Mirabal sisters, the political activists and feminists, in the Dominican Republic in 1960. And today is the first day of the “16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence”, which is an international campaign to challenge violence against women and girls, the campaign runs every year from 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, Human Rights Day. This year campaign falls under the global theme set by the UN Secretary-General’s UNiTE campaign: “Orange the World: End Violence against Women Now!”
If women all over the world are subjected to various forms of violence just because they are women, the intersection of gender with the practice of certain types of professions imposes double violence on working women. While working in the media profession is one of the most prominent of these jobs. Where Egyptian women journalists work in unsafe work environments, whether within press institutions that violate their rights as workers and contribute to the reproduction of unjust power relations for women. Egyptian female journalists have paid an even heavier price, such as Mayada Ashraf, who paid with her life while doing her job.
On this occasion, the Egyptian Observatory for Journalism and Media (EOJM);
• Supports all women working in the media professions, and condemns any form of violence that may affect them during their work.
• Calls on all concerned authorities to play their role in providing protection to all workers in the media professions.
• Recommends that media institutes follow a policy of empowering women to reach leadership positions.
• Recommends unleashing the energies of Egyptian female journalists in professional creativity without any restrictions or discrimination on gender basis.
• Calls for the Supreme Media Council to recommend the adoption of a code of conduct that limits the violence against women and the imposition of heavy penalties on media institutions that violate women’s rights in particular.
• Urges the Syndicate of Journalists to do more to deal with the risks and challenges facing women.
EOJM directs questions to the Journalists Syndicate, about the fate of the Committee to Protect Women and the monitoring and follow-up of their conditions in the journalistic workplace, which the Syndicate announced its intention to establish several months ago. EOJM clarifies that any delay in establishing this committee is the responsibility of the Journalists Syndicate. This is an indirect contribution to the increase in violence against women.
